Whitening Strip

There is no doubt about it. White teeth are in. If you watch television or see a lot of movies, you will notice that almost everyone on the screen seems to have extremely white teeth and perfect grins. Most people are not born with teeth this white, but getting them that white seems to have become an obsession as of late. An Australian friend of mine often jokes that Americans have the whitest teeth on the planet. She may be on to something.

Most of us are born with white teeth, but they are not startling white. The white is usually what might be considered an off white, but a very natural looking color. Others aren´t so lucky, and they are born with teeth that are yellowish in color. Teeth naturally yellow with age, and habits like smoking and drinking acidic beverages help the aging process along. The perfect fix for this problem is teeth veneers. These are done by dentists, and are quite costly. The natural teeth are whittled down, and caps are placed over them. Not for you? Then you might want to use the whitening strip to get your teeth whiter.

Crest makes the most popular whitening strip on the market today. The reason for their popularity is because they work well. I have used their whitening strip, and am happy to say that I loved the results. Not only did they lighten my teeth, they have remained whiter for six months. Crest seems to work well, but you may find that other brands offer you the same results.

It is very easy to use the whitening strip. You simply put one strip on your top teeth, and one on your bottom teeth. If you use Crest, they recommend you leave the whitening strip on your teeth for thirty minutes, twice a day for two weeks. If you follow the instructions on the box, you should see a difference when you are finished. That´s not a lot of effort or time for noticeably whiter teeth.

If you aren´t sure you can handle the whitening strip, you can go for the whitening gel. These are messier, and many people don´t like them. In most cases, the gel is placed in a tray you wear over your teeth over night. In the morning, you brush away what is left. After the prescribed time, you should see whiter teeth. While these tend to work, they are hard on the mouth, and don´t works as easily as the whitening strip. No matter what type you try, remember to visit your dentist to make sure your teeth are healthy before you begin, and take notice of any warnings on the package.
